From September 30 to October 1, 2024, the CARAVANE Climate Art Fusion project brought together artists, organizations, and environmental advocates in Batumi, Georgia, for a two-day meeting of collaboration and innovation. Supported by the European Union’s Creative Europe program, this gathering marked a significant step forward in the project’s mission to combine artistic expression with environmental awareness.
The meeting provided an opportunity for participants from six organizations across five countries to exchange ideas, plan ahead, and establish the foundations for the next phases of the project. Representatives from the University of Malaga, which coordinates the initiative, Centar za Kulturne Djelatnosti (Croatia), Bob Zavod za Izobrazevanje in Kulturne Dejavno (Slovenia), Social Climate, S.Coop.And (Spain), Association International Cultural Center Black Sea Global (Georgia), and GIRES-Global Institute for Research, Education & Scholarship (Netherlands) collaborated on creating a roadmap for the project’s continued success.
Discussions centered around the potential of art to spark dialogue on climate issues and inspire action. By integrating artistic expression with community engagement, the CARAVANE project aims to raise awareness about climate change and foster a sense of collective responsibility. The passion and dedication of the participating organizations were evident throughout the meeting, highlighting the transformative power of interdisciplinary collaboration.
As the CARAVANE project progresses, the outcomes of the Batumi meeting will serve as a foundation for upcoming initiatives. The creative energy and shared commitment to sustainability demonstrated by the team are paving the way for meaningful change. This meeting not only strengthened the project’s vision but also underscored the belief that art can be a powerful catalyst for environmental advocacy.
The journey of the CARAVANE Climate Art Fusion project continues, and we look forward to seeing how these efforts unfold to make a lasting impact on communities across Europe and beyond.
